Play School is a one, two or three day a week drop-off preschool program for children 2.5 - 6 years old.
Play School preschoolers engage in a play-packed morning of discovery and learning based on the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood.
Following the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood where the child is respected as capable and curious, Play School is based on four key principles:
Emergent Curriculum - Our curriculum stems from the interests and skills of the individual child. We create experiences based on talking with children and families and what we know to be interesting to young children. Our open-ended and hand's on activities act as a jumping off point for the child that they can then use to construct their own knowledge.
Projects - Working on long-term, in-depth projects provides a thorough study of concepts and ideas. Our teachers act as advisors while the children are the architects. Projects may last a week or two or the entire school year.
Representational Development - Ideas are presented in multiple forms - print, art, music, movement, etc. - to ensure that all children have the chance to understand and connect with explored concept. It isn't how smart is the child, but rather how is this child smart.
Collaboration - To strengthen and practice key cognitive skills such as communication, critical thinking, negotiation, and initiative, children are given multiple opportunities to work in small and large groups. Each child is given a voice in order to promote balance between a sense of belonging to the group and a sense of self.

Masks must be worn by all Play School staff and adults at all times on the premises.
Temperature checks are completed upon arrival for all persons coming to Play School and Play Studio sessions.
Play Studio remains closed to the public during Play School hours.
The back door and some windows remain open to help with air flow and circulation throughout the building.
The children spend as much of the day outside as possible.
Frequent and thorough hand washing for adults and children takes place throughout the day.
Materials and table tops are cleaned and sanitized during and at the end of each session.
Anything mouthed is removed from the play area promptly and sanitized.
Drop-off and Pick-up occur outdoors in the parking lot at 9 am and 12 pm. The teachers will meet your child at the car and bring them over to the outdoor play area, at 9:10 the children will all go to Play Studio to begin their day. Adjustments will be made for inclimate weather but your child will still be met by a teacher at your car. At pick-up the teachers will walk the children to the play area nearby the parking lot and will bring your child to your car when you arrive.
As always, adults and children that are exhibiting symptoms of illness, who have had contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case, or who have a confirmed COVID-19 case in their immediate home or workplace should not enter Play Studio.
